National Garden and Natural Guard Arbel
What on the Site
The Arbel Castle and the caves – in the cliff of the hundreds of caves created in the beginning in a natural process (karst), and later from the natural caves were laid and enlarged by man for residential purposes in ancient times.
In caves, water pits were laid, residential halls, stalls, and a few curves.
Here there was a battle for life and death between Herod and his opponents hiding in the Caves.
Later, some of the caves became a major fortress, where hidden passages, staircases, halls and waterways.
The experience begins with the view from the rumour of the rib cliff and the critical decline to the possible fortress with stairs, Judaism and metal cables installed instead of the maintenance and safety of travellers.
The synagogue in Barbel – in the northern part of the Arbel Colony are residential remains, including the ruins of an ancient synagogue built in the center of the Old Town, a new archaeological excavation took place in 2008 with the permission of D” the son of Arrests and found artifacts for a synagogue from the Second Temple period.
The synagogue has several stages, and it excels in the wealth of architectural items from limestone designed in a variety of architectural styles.
Most of the visible findings are from the end of the Roman period to the ancient Arab period.
To differentiate the synagogue from the area’s houses, it was built in land construction from large limestone buildings in control of the looted houses that were the most common building rocks in the area.
The front of the building of the Byzantine period was restored, and other parts of the building are scattered in place.

More about the site.
A breathtaking observation of the Sea of Galilee, the Galilee, the Hammon and the Golan and a visit to the Tomb of the Druze Prophet – all these await us on the summit of Mount Arbel.
The Arbel cliff descends into a Sea of Galilee in flames and intensity, and lifts the eye to all its views.
During the period of the Talmud and the area was settled in a crowded Jewish population.
The remains of a synagogue, which were found between the ancient Arbel, serve as proof and example of Jewish life that they have fled at the time.
We will be on Route 77, between the Golani junction and Tiberias.
At the intersection of a tailor village, we will turn west on Route 7717, according to signage, to the towns of a village of tailors and archbals.
Our face dates to a spectacular observation from the language of the cliff.
In the way, we pass over processed fields.
In winter and spring we can also enjoy a spectacular flower.
We will be looking at 3 on the language of the Arbel cliff.
We are about 181 m above sea level, but the Sea of Galilee, as we know, is at a level of about 209 m below the sea!
The mirror revealed in our eyes stops breathing: in our feet, the Sea of Galilee is spread, and the surrounding valley is the same, the valley of the house of hunting and the Giniser valley.
Above it, in the east – the Golan Mountains and the Harmon; in the north and west – the Upper Galilee and the bottom – Mount Meron, Fatah, Mount Vision and more…
Beware!
Don’t get closer to the language of the cliff!
At the foot of the cliff are hidden caves, in which rebels were hidden during the Second Temple period, as well as a fortress built in the 17th century by Fajr al-din Druze (the observation we stand cannot see these sites).
We will return to the farm.
Walking route on foot:
This route is easy to walk, from the parking lot we will follow by marking red trails that will lead us to the cliff top and the observation hike.
The trip will return to the parking lot.
A trip to Miami:
If we have more than one car (in such a case, we will focus and park the car at the foot of the cliff), we will be able to fall in the cliff on a unique walking route.
This route is suitable for adventurers, and the decline in it is made with the help of the congested in the rock.
The duration of the decline is about an hour and more, and it dates about 600 m southwest to the observation.
The road is organized and marked in red ( signage – ” decrease to the fortress “).
We will descend from the helicopter and continue for dust to the Arbel Caves.
It is possible to explore the fortified cave system and register from the topographic installation that gives them a clear strategic advantage: a cliff is carried from above, and below them a steep decline to a deep abysss.
The caves are built in three levels, and in their openings walls were built well integrated into the skyscraper.
The struggle of the local fanatics, who survived in Herod and Rome during the Second Temple period, describes in detail and dramatism of the historian, at that time, Joseph Ben-Mathhu.
The rebel fanatics were arrested in Barbel.
For a long time Herod had debated how to conquer the fortified place, until he found a sophisticated crop: ” he ordered the governors of the army of the wells (depending on the ropes) and presented them according to the caves.
And they laid the inhabitants of the caves and threw fire on the people…” (Wars A, Tas, D). Herod tried to convince the rebels to save their souls and fall in captivity, but they did not touch him, and the few remaining alive chose to jump from the helicopter to their deaths.
From the caves, we will continue at steep decline and is marked by the vehicle waiting for us at the foot of the cliff, near the settlement of Hamam Bedouin Bedouin Bedouin Bedouin Bedouin Bedouins (Sail Arbel is called in Arabic and Eddie Hamm).
The Tomb of Naby Shalev 4:
From the speed of Arbel, we will return to Route No. 7717 and turn to the right (west).
After about 1.5km/quot; we turn to the left (according to signage) – on the road leading to the Nabi Shaiev Tomb – the most sacred site for the Druze in the country.
The Druze believes that here the prophet is buried, and he will be saved, and he will be saved.
The site is interesting and we will be able to understand here a little to the Druze witness, which the secret of its religion is only known to the Sages.
The site is open throughout the day.
